ASCLME project’s steering committee meeting

Participants to the ASCLME project’s steering committee meeting and that of its sister project, the South West Indian Ocean Fisheries Project (SWIOFP), held recently in Dar es Salaam. Tanzania and eight other East African countries stand to reap significant benefits from a partnership agreement adopted recently between the Agulhas and Somali Current Large Marine Ecosystems (ASCLME) Project and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) of the United States. The agreement formalizes and strengthens the existing relationship between the two organizations and lays the groundwork to improve the collection, interpretation and dissemination of information about marine and coastal environment of the western Indian Ocean.
